Honor Donations

Armand A. Maccarone, 88, died January 10, 2022 at Apple Rehabilitation in Middletown, CT after a long battle with dementia and a short battle with COVID-19. Born in 1933, in Hartford, CT, Armand was the son of the late Urban and Mary (Marone) Maccarone. He grew up on Bonner Street in Hartford, and lived in Rocky Hill, CT for many years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria (Scionti) Maccarone, who left him behind in 2001. He found love again with his second wife, Lorraine Motta-Maccarone, by whom he will be dearly missed. Armand is also survived by his children, Marie Foohey and her husband Paul of South Glastonbury, CT, Rosemary Ayers and her husband Buddy of Glastonbury, CT, and Patricia Faulkner and her husband James of Rockville, CT, his grandchildren, Paula Meunier, Jacquelin McBride, Christopher Foohey, Elena Ayers, Heather Faulkner and James Faulkner, and his great grandchildren, Raiden Hemphill and Harper Foohey, all of whom deeply mourn his passing. He also will be missed by Lorraine’s family, considered as part of his own, Michele Motta and her partner Joe Calabro of Cheshire, CT, Elaine Motta and her wife Tatjana Homich of Rocky Hill, CT, and Michele’s children, Dan and Ben Schena. He was predeceased by his big brothers, Ralph Maccarone and Justin Maccarone, and their wives. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Following graduation from Hartford Public High School, Armand went to work at Western Electric and remained employed as a supervisor by its numerous successors until his retirement. He was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, which sparked his love of travel and prompted him to visit numerous places around the world with Gloria and his brothers and their spouses, and then Lorraine. Armand was a hard worker, industrious and creative. He could fix anything, and his home appliances went through many lives before he would officially declare them beyond repair. During his retirement, he built homes weekly with Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, only ceasing to do so when his dementia kept him from navigating to the building sites. His family members treasure the many stained-glass lamps, mirrors and ornaments that he created for them. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his kindness, an Italian green thumb, and his love of family. Family meant the world to him, encompassing the Maccarones, Mottas, and Sciontis, as well as the many Marone descendants for whom he helped orchestrate the Marone Family Reunion for decades. Armand’s family would like to thank the caregivers who helped make his final years comfortable, including his devoted wife Lorraine and John Hardnett of Companions & Homemakers. Due to COVID-19, burial will be at the convenience of the family. David M. Mancini, Sr., 60, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2022).  David was born on Jan. 9, 1962 to the late Jack and Giovanna Mancini.  He lived his entire life in Bristol and graduated from Bristol Central High School.  David worked his entire career in the commercial construction business where he made many friends and was proud of the projects he completed. David took time to take care of family members.  He was passionate about cars and enjoyed fishing and outdoor sports.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  Dave is survived by his son: David Mancini, Jr, his fiancé, Joelle, and his grandson, Gavin – who were his pride and joy. He also leaves his sister, Donna Luzi and her husband, Armand; his brother: Domenic Mancini and his wife, Trish; and his sister-in-law: Mary Ellen Mancini, widow of his brother, Frank Mancini, and he was also predeceased by brother: Jack Mancini. David enjoyed being in the company of his nephews and nieces, Nickolas Mancini and his wife Elaine, Jake Mancini and his girlfriend Tori, and his niece Carmela Luzi and her fiancé Rob Phelps, and his great nephew Cole.  A prayer service will be conducted at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Thursday (Feb. 3, 2022) at 6:30 p.m.  Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday between 5 and 6:30 p.m.  Burial will be private.
